Thank You for Reelecting Me!

It’s been an amazing year so far, full of accomplishments, but there is still a lot to do!

Improving our Parks

Even before I was on the City Council, upgrading and maintaining our amazing (but deteriorating) public parks has been a huge priority for me.  That’s why, with so many of you, I fought hard to pass Measure F to fund improvements to all 4 of our major parks – Dunphy, old MLK, Robin Sweeney and South View.  We have made amazing progress on all 4!  While Robin Sweeney is complete and now enjoyed by families and seniors every day, we are moving forward with improvements to our other parks.  Let’s continue to keep pushing these improvements forward.

Saving our Public Transit Route #92

This year the Golden Gate Bridge District proposed to entirely eliminate Route 92 that travels through Sausalito down Geary Blvd. and San Francisco Civic Center to the Transbay Terminal.  This is an important route for local residents and employers.  I am proud to have worked with Sausalito residents, and employees and our Vice Mayor Joe Burns to advocate strongly to the Golden Gate Bridge District to save the 92.  And we won!  The Bridge District listened to our letters, testimony, and the City Council letter and agreed to keep the 92.  I was so gratified as your Council Member and a frequent public transit rider.

Now, we need to help the Bridge District continue to maintain ridership on the 92 by getting the word out.

Progress on our General Plan Update

The General Plan update is an effort that will set our course on such critical issues as transportation, land use, emergency preparedness, and sea level rise.  There is a General Plan Advisory Committee that meets regularly and the Council gets periodic updates.

For meeting times and updates see the General Plan website.

  • The City has formed the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) charged with updating the City’s 1995 General Plan.  The General Plan Update provides the opportunity to reexamine the plan and make updates to reflect the opportunities and challenges that have emerged.
  • The City should use this opportunity to re-examine its policies on a number of important issues such as uses and infrastructure planning in the Marinship, transportation planning and infrastructure, community and economic development, and more.

Check back soon for more updates on:

  • Addressing Downtown Congestion
  • Developing a Sound Budget that reflect our values and addresses our pension liabilities
  • Implementing Local Laws on Cannabais
  • Strengthening Local Laws on Flavored Tobacco
  • Short-Term Rentals

In addition to my work on the City Council, I serve as the Council Liaison to:

  • Sausalito’s Sustainability Commission
  • The Marin County Mayor’s and City Council Member’s (MCCMC) Homeless Committee
  • MCCMC’s Disaster Preparedness Committee
  • Transporation Authority of Marin (TAM), Alternate
  • The Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Housing
